Explore flowers as a medium for contemporary art in this advanced floral design workshop at Viola Floral in Santa Monica. Designed for students ready to move beyond traditional flower arranging, this hands-on class focuses on sculptural composition, expressive form, negative space, balance, and movement.

Guests will learn how professional floral designers use line, shape, texture, and proportion to create modern floral arrangements that feel intentional, editorial, and visually compelling. Through guided instruction and creative experimentation, you will develop an art-driven approach to floral design while creating a one-of-a-kind sculptural arrangement using premium seasonal flowers and unexpected botanical materials.

The class will draw inspiration from Viola Gallery’s exhibition featuring the work of artist Travis Weller, inviting guests to respond to his use of composition, form, movement, and visual tension through flowers.

Ideal for experienced flower enthusiasts, aspiring florists, event designers, and creatives seeking an advanced floral arranging class in Los Angeles, this workshop encourages you to challenge convention, strengthen your design instincts, and discover new ways to work with flowers as an artistic medium.

All flowers, materials, vessels, and professional instruction are included. Guests will leave with their completed floral composition and a deeper understanding of modern, sculptural floristry.

Level: Advanced (you've taken 2-3 classes or you practice regularly)

We’ll be starting promptly on time, so plan to arrive 15 minutes early to settle in, sip something refreshing, and get ready to bloom. Master Designer, Elise Piatkowski — Weary of the daily grind of commuting to her Manhattan office job, Elise sought a change. With the support of friends and the invaluable guidance of talented mentors, she transformed a passion for floral design into a full-time profession. Almost a decade later, Elise has honed her skills and cultivated a distinctive, authentic style, and enjoys sharing her knowledge through workshops and teaching experiences at Viola Floral.
